CUPE 5021 Ratifies new Collective Agreement
We were honoured to send 3 executive members to represent CUPE 5021 to the National Human Rights Conference in Winnipeg.
Over 500 social and labor activists from across Canada took part in CUPE’s 2nd National Human Rights Conference.
Only when Canadians learn to live as a family, where people feel a responsibility to be mindful of one another, and when people understand that all of creation is interconnected, will Canada reach its full potential. ~ Niigaanwewidam James Sinclair, Associate Professor at the University of Manitoba
“In every workshop and panel discussion we have heard that CUPE members have a responsibility and the power to bring about change,” “We need this change to move forward as a union, in our workplaces and in our communities. Every step we make towards equality, we move closer to a powerful labour movement.” ~ Brian Barron
“The more we understand each other – the stronger we are. Our differences do not make us weaker sisters and brothers. Our differences make us stronger,” “We will now go back to our communities and locals, and each time when we read our CUPE Equality Statement at our union events, let’s remember the commitment that we made this weekend. Let us recommit ourselves to standing up, to make a difference, every day, in all we do.” Charles Fleury, national secretary-treasurer of CUPE
